Applications

Apply for an Instrumental Place or to become a Chorister

Entry to St Mary’s Music School is based on musical ability or potential ability and pupils are selected after an audition process. The recommended steps are as follows:

1. Advisory Audition

For anyone applying for an instrumental place or to become a chorister we recommend attending an Advisory Audition in the first instance. These are free of charge and are a useful indicator of whether a child or young person is likely to succeed at audition and if the School itself will be the right environment for them. After your Advisory Audition we will tell you whether we recommend you for a Formal Audition.

2. Formal Audition

This determines whether you have the musical ability and potential to be a full time pupil at St Mary's Music School.  If successful at this stage you will be invited to attend for a Two Day Stay.

3. Two Day Stay

If successful in your formal audition we will invite you to a two day stay. This is the final part of the assessment process.
