Results and Destinations
At St Mary's Music School we accept pupils based on their musical ability and potential. We are not academically selective, but with our small class sizes and the indvidual attention we are able to devote to every pupil, our young musicians flourish and achieve excellent examination results.
In 2021 over 85% of SQA grades awarded resulted as Grade A with a percentage pass rate of 100% across all levels.
At Advanced Higher
There were 27 presentations in total with 100% A – C pass rate.
96% of candidates across all subjects were awarded a Grade A or B.
Seven of the presentations were S5 pupils taking Advanced Higher Music.
At Higher
There were 34 presentations with a 100% A – C pass rate
97% of candidates achieved a Grade A or B.
At National 5
There were 56 presentations with a 100% A – C pass rate
93% of candidates achieved a Grade A or B.
Subjects at Advanced Higher were:
Art and Design; Biology; Chemistry; English; French; German; History; Mathematics; Music; Physics; Spanish
At Higher:
Art and Design; Biology; Chemistry; English; ESOL, French; German; Italian; Latin; Mathematics; Physics; Spanish
Pupils were also presented for Cambridge Assessment Awards in Music.
At iGCSE
There were 9 presentations with a 100% pass rate
All candidates achieved a grade 9.
At Pre-U
There were 9 presentations with a 100% pass rate.
All candidates achieved a Distinction, five achieved a Distinction 1

The majority of pupils choose to go on to study music at conservatoires, music college or university either in the UK or abroad. Others choose different routes. Regardless of their choice we we give them every support to help them achieve their ambition.
