We are very excited about our brand new SCO Youth Academy in partnership with Scottish Chamber Orchestra and so it is with great regret that, due to Covid-19, we have taken the decision to postpone the inaugural live course.
We now ask that you please DO NOT submit an audition video at this time. To those of you who have already begun preparing your audition material, thank you for your commitment and effort. We hope that you have had fun with the pieces (or at least developed some new skills!)
We will announce updated plans at the end of August on the SCO website and on social media, and if you have already registered we will contact you by email.
SCO Youth Academy is a new youth orchestra for school-aged musicians, delivered in partnership with St Mary’s Music School. The Academy offers a great opportunity for aspiring young musicians to work with expert SCO players over a series of five Sunday afternoons in the centre of Edinburgh. Conducted by Gordon Bragg and tutored by SCO musicians, the SCO Youth Academy is open to school-aged orchestral musicians who have reached Grade 6 or above and who are able to commit to a series of sessions. Places will be allocated on submission of a successful video audition.
The course fee is £90 per participant. We do not, however, want cost to be a barrier and can provide means-tested bursaries for up to 100% fees and travel expenses.
