Richard Ingham
Richard has given recitals throughout the UK, and in the USA, Canada, Europe, and Asia. Numerous works have been written for him. He is a member of Strangeness & Charm, Trio Verso and the Auricle Ensemble, was a member of the Northern Saxophone Quartet for 26 years, and has been a member of the Tribune Saxophone Octet, Scottish Saxophone Ensemble, Red Note Ensemble. He is Honorary Professor of Jazz Education, University of St Andrews, Visiting Tutor, University of Aberdeen, Joint President of the Clarinet and Saxophone Society of Great Britain, and Member, Comité International du Saxophone. He was the Director of the XVI World Saxophone Congress. He has worked with the RLPO, Hallé, Opera North, Royal National Theatre.
Richard has made many albums. His book, Cambridge Companion to the Saxophone is a standard reference book. His compositions receive frequent performances. His saxophone teaching has produced many advanced student performers (classical and jazz); his jazz students have included three Young Scottish Jazz Musician winners. Richard has given conservatoire masterclasses in the UK and abroad. His jazz courses in St Andrews have been running for 20 years. He lectured for the ABRSM in South-East Asia and India.
