I strongly support the plans for St Mary’s Music School to move to the site of the former Royal High School on Calton Hill.

The enhanced facilities will allow St Mary’s Music School the opportunity to expand academically and musically as well as greatly increase outreach to young musicians from Edinburgh and beyond. As a head teacher of a specialist music school I am clear that the talent and hard work of young musicians is a resource for Scotland and the wider UK community that must be supported and encouraged.

I am delighted that the plans were approved by the City of Edinburgh Council and very much hope that there is the political will to make these a reality in the near future
