Christina Marroni, Bassoon
Christina is a freelance bassoonist and contra bassoonist based in London. Her professional orchestral work includes trial periods with the BBC Concert Orchestra, and performances with the Ulster Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Britten Sinfonia, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, English National Opera, Welsh National Opera, and the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House. She attended St Mary’s Music School from 2003-2007 before going on to study music at the University of Manchester and at the Royal College of Music, where she was winner of the college concerto competition in 2011.
Christina was a member of Southbank Sinfonia in 2013, performing regular orchestral and chamber concerts in London and further afield, as well as participating in a variety of education and outreach projects. She has since worked on projects with schools in East London through the Commonwealth Cantata Project, in family concerts for Southern Pro Musica and as part of London Music Masters' Bridge Project.
As a chamber musician, her experience includes mixed chamber music performances with The New Professionals, the Heath Street Ensemble and the DaVinci Players and recitals with the Gelachter Trio, Holloway Winds and the Southbank Sinfonia Wind Quartet.
She is a previous participant of the LSO Woodwind Academy, and former principal bassoon of both the Young Musicians's Symphony Orchestra and the Schleswig Holstein Festival Orchestra. Christina is also an active teacher, with bassoon teaching positions at Reeds School in Cobham and Francis Holland and Queens Gate Schools in central London.
