Friday & Saturday Music Classes

Our long established and very popular Saturday Music Classes for children aged 4 to 12 take place during term time at St Mary’s Music School.  In a safe and caring social environment, some 150 local children discover the wonders of music, helped by experienced staff, all highly qualified in working with children through the arts. The emphasis is on having fun, while engaging young children in the magic of music making. This year we are delighted to introduce Friday choir classes too.

On Saturdays we run a café for parents during lessons, and families find St Mary’s Music School a vibrant and friendly place in which to spend time and catch up with friends.

Singing Classes and Choirs (Friday and Saturday)

We offer Singing Classes for children in Primary 1 to Primary 7.

New for 2018-19, choir classes are being extended to Friday afternoons for children in Primary 1 to Primary 7.  Classes will be fun and exciting for children, and every child will gain from the act of singing together.

Dalcroze and Kodály Music Classes

For little ones, Dalcroze and Kodály classes begin for children in their final pre-school year and are offered up to Primary 5 (age 9 to 10), according to demand.  These classes encourage children's musicianship and listening skills, nurturing their enjoyment of music and building their confidence.

Musicianship is taught through Dalcroze Eurhythmics. Learning fundamental musical skills through movement is the basis of the Dalcroze Method.

Group Instrumental Lessons and Theory Classes

By the age of 7, children can start beginner instrumental lessons and theory classes. Taster sessions are available to allow children to meet the teacher and try an instrument.
