Scholarship Fund

Nurturing exceptional talent

The need for financial support has never been as important as it is today. Many of our pupils would simply be unable to take up a place at St Mary’s Music School without the support from our philanthropic donors. This support can change the course of a young person’s life and set them on the road to realising their musical ambitions.

Young people with exceptional musical talent come from all kinds of backgrounds and we firmly believe that financial constraint should never be a barrier to exploring a passion for music and developing their skills to their fullest potential.

The specialist music education we offer can be life changing for gifted young musicians, and with your help, we can continue to open our doors as widely as possible.

Our Scholarship Fund allows us to support up to 20 young people every year, in recognition of their outstanding musical ability and to supplement the Scottish Government Aided Places Scheme support.  By contribution to this, you will be making a transformational musical journey possible.

Help us hit a high note

Donors, Patrons and the School Endowment Fund currently contribute annually towards 15 to 20 instrumentalist scholarships. There is a strategic need to increase this significantly with the planned move to the former Royal High School, and with current need being far greater than what we can offer at present.

Contributions from £5,000 a year are sought for a minimum of 3 years, enabling a pupil to progress through the School with an assurance for support.  Scholarship Fund support is directed through our music faculties, so that the anonymity of the pupil is preserved, enabling the pupil to focus on their studies.

Scholarships can assist Brass, Composition, Keyboard, Percussion, Strings, Vocal and Woodwind pupils.
