Conservatoire Pathway: Specialised Training for Aspiring Musicians
St Mary’s Music School’s Conservatoire Pathway is designed to support young musicians aged 16 and over in preparing for conservatoire auditions in the UK.
This specialist programme offers structured training, expert mentorship, and invaluable performance experience to enhance pupils’chances of success.
With a proven track record— to date 100% of pupils have secured conservatoire placements—St Mary’s Music School is well-equipped to guide pupils through this competitive process. The pathway provides personalised one-to-one tuition, coaching sessions, and dedicated accompanist support to refine audition repertoire and technique. Pupils also benefit from masterclasses, workshops, and frequent performance opportunities to build confidence and stage presence.
Two year programme
The two-year programme, with an option to extend to three years, is structured to fit within the final years of secondary education or a gap year. Academic music studies, aligned with Advanced Higher and A-Level courses, further support conservatoire applications.
Beyond individual development, pupils have opportunities to collaborate in ensembles, choirs, and orchestral projects. The School’s strong partnerships with professional organisations such as the Benedetti Foundation, Scottish Chamber Orchestra, and Scottish Opera provide valuable industry experience.
Bursaries available
The programme is accessible through means-tested bursaries, with funding available to cover up to 100% of tuition fees. With limited places available, early application is strongly encouraged.
