St Mary’s Music School: Primary 7 Transition Week
At St Mary’s Music School, we believe that a smooth transition from Primary to Secondary education is vital for our pupils’ confidence and success.
During the week commencing 3rd June, our Primary 7 (P7) class experienced an exiciting Transition Week. The week is designed to bridge the gap between the primary and senior phases, providing our P7s with a blend of fun, team-building activities, and an introduction to the senior curriculum.
Monday: Junior Summer Dance
The week kicked off with a Junior Summer Dance on Monday evening. Our P7s, alongside their fellow junior pupils, enjoyed an evening of music and dancing. This dance provided a perfect opportunity for our P7s to bond over shared memories and excitement for the adventures ahead in Secondary 1 (S1).
Tuesday: Team-Building Extravaganza
Tuesday was a day filled with team-building activities planned and organized by the P7 pupils themselves. Under the guidance of Mrs. Jarron, the day included a bowling session, a visit to a trampoline park and a wander through the National Museum of Scotland. The museum visit was a blend of education and entertainment, allowing the pupils to explore exhibits.
Wednesday to Friday: Stepping into S1
The remainder of the week, from Wednesday to Friday, saw our P7s embarking on a preview of their S1 journey. They followed the Secondary 1 timetable, meeting their future teachers and getting a taste of the subjects they will delve into next academic year. This experience was instrumental in easing any apprehensions about the transition to senior school.
We are immensely proud of how our P7 pupils embraced this Transition Week with enthusiasm and maturity. Their ability to plan and execute a day of team-building activities is a testament to their growing independence and leadership skills. As they step into S1, we are confident that they are well-prepared to continue thriving in their educational journey at St Mary’s Music School.
