Post of IT administrator

St Mary’s Music School is seeking to appoint an experienced, enthusiastic and motivated IT Administrator to support all aspects of the IT provision within the school.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the management, maintenance and smooth operation of the school’s IT infrastructure, working alongside the Bursar and the school’s retained IT outsourced support. They will ensure staff and pupils have access to secure, reliable and robust systems and hardware.

The successful candidate will need strong technical skills and confident knowledge of the Microsoft Stack. Knowledge of firewalls, internal and external network security, anti-virus and anti-spam systems are also required. A high-level understanding of Microsoft 365 administration will be required. The school currently houses around 50 PCs with associated peripherals, 20 laptops, 1 on-site server, plus mobile devices, in addition to Smart Boards and AV equipment. The school is also in the process of implementing a new VoIP telephone system. Cyber Security knowledge is essential.
We are a small school in which no two days are the same, and staff adaptability and flexibility are key, along with a willingness to be hands-on when necessary. The IT Administrator will work closely with senior staff. The line manager for the post will be the Bursar.

This is a full-time post of 35 hours per week, working from 8am to 4pm over the full year.

Post of Part-Time administrator, bursar's office

St Mary’s Music School is seeking to appoint an Administrator to work in the School Bursar’s Office.
The successful candidate will have proven administration skills and IT abilities, excellent verbal and written communication skills and a good level of numeracy. Experience in working in a school or education environment is not a requirement.

A flexible and positive attitude to work is essential, along with excellent attention to detail; tact and discretion are required as work in the Bursar’s Office is confidential. The post-holder should be able to work independently and as part of a small team.

We are a small school in which no two days are the same. Staff adaptability and flexibility are key, along with a willingness to be hands-on when necessary. The Administrator will be one of a team of administrative staff headed by the Bursar and including the Bursar’s Office, School Office and Facilities staff. The line manager for the post will be the School Bursar.

This is a part-time post of 20 hours per week, working mornings over the full year.

Post of Part-Time instrumental teacher (voice)

St Mary’s Music School is seeking to appoint an Instrumental Teacher of Voice to work alongside the Head of Voice on the School’s Vocal Programme.

This position is ideal for a passionate educator with extensive experience working with young classical singers and, specifically, changing voices.

This is a part-time post of around 6 to 7 hours per week in Session 2026-27, to be worked over two days.

Post of Part-Time Houseparent

St Mary’s Music School is seeking to appoint a Houseparent to work on a part-time basis in the Boarding
House. The post holder will work primarily at weekends, either daytime (8am to 5pm or 9am to 6pm)
and/or overnight (5pm to 8am or 6pm to 9am) shifts, and occasionally during the week (4pm to 8am),
dependent on availability.

Job Description & Areas of Responsibility

The Houseparent is one of a team of boarding house staff overseen by the Headteacher, and led by the
the Boarding House Manager. The line manager for Houseparents is the Boarding House Manager.


The work, all under the Boarding House Managers’ direction, includes:

  • Working shifts as required (mainly weekend daytime or evenings, with occasional weekday 
  • evenings/overnights/mornings);
  • Contact with and supervision of all boarding house pupils while on duty in a team of two 
  • Houseparents;
  • Responsibility of dealing with issues as they arise and ensuring timely and full communication of 
  • any issues arising to the Boarding House Manager, Headteacher or Head of Guidance as 
  • appropriate;
  • Completing administrative, domestic and security duties as required;

General duties:

  • Undertaking appropriate and agreed training and maintaining a personal record;
  • Participating in any arrangements for appraisal of performance;
  • Participating in extracurricular activities as appropriate;
  • Attending staff meetings as requested;
  • Other duties as required by the Boarding House Manager, Bursar or Headteacher.

In July and August, if working for the St Mary’s School Enterprises, the duties are under the direction of
the Bursar and Maintenance Manager. They will be various and will include overnight residence,
cleaning and laundry, food handling and serving, front-of-house duties, etc.

Part-time evening cleaner (term-time only)

St Mary’s Music School is seeking to appoint a cleaner to work in the main school building. This is a part 
time post working 15 hours per week during the school session (approximately 34 weeks per year).

Job Description & Areas of Responsibility

  • Clean teaching and office areas of the school;
  • Adhere to COSHH regulations;
  • Promote and help to safeguard the health, welfare and safety of pupils, staff and visitors;
  • Undertake appropriate and agreed training and maintain a personal record;
  • Other tasks as requested by the Maintenance Manager, Bursar or Headteacher.

Hours of Work

15 hours per week, normally 5pm to 8pm Monday to Friday, during the school session (approximately 34 weeks per year).
