Chorister Pre-Audition Afternoon
Being a chorister, and part of the Choir of St Mary's Episcopal Cathedral in Edinburgh, is to be part of a unique tradition that began in 1880.
St Mary’s Episcopal Cathedral and St Mary’s Music School invite children currently in P4 and P5 to attend a Chorister Pre-Audition Afternoon.
This open session is designed for young singers who are interested in joining the Choir of St Mary’s Cathedral as a chorister and being educated at St Mary’s Music School. During the course of the afternoon, children will take part in a series of activities aimed at identifying potential and suitability for chorister training.
Following the session, selected applicants will be invited to complete the audition process on Friday 30th May.
All choristers are full-time pupils at St Mary’s Music School, where they receive an excellent academic and musical education alongside daily commitments to the Cathedral choir.
Applications are now open.

Choristers are aged 8 to 13 (P5-S2) and are full time pupils at St Mary's Music School. You can find out more about being a chorister here or on the St Mary's Cathedral website.
Described by Gramophone magazine as "one of Scotland's (indeed the UK's) musical jewels", the Choir of St Mary's Cathedral enjoys an international reputation.
Around 16 boys and girls make up the chorister element of the Choir and over a five year period they receive an exceptional music and academic education, divided between St Mary's Cathedral and St Mary's Music School.
