The Great Scottish Double Bass Day
CALLING ALL BASS PLAYERS OF ALL AGES AND EVEN....BASSISTS TO BE!!!!!!
Join the Scottish Bass Trust and St Mary's Music School for the Great Scottish Double Bass Day. There will be workshops, ensemble sessions, jazz and much, much more.
The Scottish Bass Trust team will feature Nikita Naumov, Jamie Kenny, May Halyburton, Adrian Bornet, Andrew Robb and Stewart Wilson. We also welcome anyone of any age who wants to try the double bass with a full day of activities planned for anyone meeting the instrument for the first time!
What can you expect on the day?
Mass Bass Ensemble
Bring on the bass! Everyone comes together to form one huge double bass orchestra. Whether you're picking up a bass for the very first time or you're already an experienced player, there's a part for everyone.
Taster
Discover the double bass! Get to know this wonderfully deep and versatile instrument as we explore how to hold it, play it and make music together — including a dive into the bass's seriously low-frequency world.
Beginner
Bass Gymnastics
Warm up, limber up and get your fingers moving with a fun session of bass technique and musical exercises.
Team Playing Skills
Discover the secrets of great ensemble playing and learn how to listen, respond and play as part of the team.
Performance Pizazz!
Take your performance to the next level with tips and tricks to add confidence, character and that extra sparkle.
Jazz
Step into the world of jazz and blues and discover how to make the double bass groove. Explore the blues, pick up some jazz tips and tricks, and have fun finding your own bass voice.
