Junior And Intermediate Recital Prizes
St Mary's Music School continues to celebrate the next generation of talented musicians with the Junior and Intermediate Recital Prizes, which took place on Thursday, 13 June 2024.
Judged by the esteemed pianist Susan Tomes, these competitions provided a platform for our younger pupils to showcase their growing skills and artistry.
Junior Recital Prize Contestants:
Renee (P7, Piano), Paul (S2, Cello), Sophie (S2, Violin), Sandy (S2, Viola).
Each junior contestant delivered performances that were both captivating and skilful. After thoughtful deliberation, Susan Tomes awarded the Junior Recital Prize to Sandy for his renditions of:
Prelude from Bach's Suite No. 2, Meditation by Bloch and Allegro Appasionato by Bridge.
Intermediate Recital Prize Contestants:
Klara (S3, Violin), Aaron (S3, Piano), Lara Iona (S3, Violin), Connie (S3, Piano).
In the Intermediate category, the level of competition was equally impressive. Each participant displayed a command of their instrument and delivered performances that resonated with depth and nuance. After evaluation, the Intermediate Recital Prize was awarded to Connie for her compelling interpretations of:
Etude Tableaux Op. 39 No. 8 by Rachmaninov, Musica Ricercata No. 3 & No. 5 by Ligeti.
Reflections on Excellence
As we reflect on the Directors' Recital Prize and the subsequent Junior and Intermediate Recital Prizes, we are reminded of the extraordinary talent that flourishes within our school. These events are more than just competitions; they are celebrations of our pupils' growth, their artistic journeys, and their commitment to excellence.
Congratulations to all our participants and to winners Sandy and Connie.
St Mary's Music School remains dedicated to fostering the talents of our pupils and providing them with opportunities to shine on prestigious platforms.
