I am delighted support the proposal to restore the Royal High School as a new home for St Mary’s Music School. Not only would this be a respectful rejuvenation of an iconic building, but it would provide a modern, fit-for-purpose home for one of Scotland’s cultural and educational jewels. Scotland’s extraordinary cultural landscape is greatly strengthened by offering a world class specialist music education, and St Mary’s allows our most gifted young people to develop their talents and ambitions in this country.

I would urge the City of Edinburgh to support your vision to develop a music education centre suitable for the 21st century, and that will be a meaningful contributor to Scotland’s vibrant culture for many generations to come.
