Sforzando Strings
Attention young violinists, violists, cellists and double bassists!
Saturday 8th August 2026
Meet lots of other young string players for a morning of string playing in large groups, musical games activities, and a performance to friends and family at the end.
We will be running two string orchestras:
Primo - beginner to grade one so for any players within the range of being able to pluck open strings to being comfortable playing in G major (violins and violas happy to play with low second fingers).
Secondo - Grade 2 - 4 so for players who can play in most keys and are happy with some position changing.
The tutors are Valerie Pearson (violin), Philip Bartai (viola) and Kim Vaughan (cello) who are all teachers at St Mary’s Music School and Saturday Music Classes.
The venue is St Mary’s Music School, Edinburgh - just 3 minutes walk from Haymarket Station.
The morning starts with registration at 0845 and ends with a performance to families 1315-1345.
Cost for the morning is £25 per child. Some bursaries are available on request.
