St Mary’s Music School is once again the Top Scottish Secondary School for Academic Performance in Sunday Time League Table

We are delighted that St Mary’s Music School has once again been named the number one independent secondary school in the 2026 Sunday Times Parent Power Guide League Table. This marks four consecutive years (2023–2026) that the School has been top of the table for Academic Excellence.

This performance reflects the School’s unwavering commitment to academic and musical excellence at every stage of the pupil journey. The Sunday Times Parent Power Guide draws on publicly available exam data across more than 2,000 schools nationally, making its league table one of the most widely respected benchmarks for comparing school performance.  For a specialist music school such as ours, our performance shows that a strong focus on music does not come at the expense of academic achievement. Our approach to education supports our young people in realising their full potential academically, as well as in their musical studies.

Headteacher Dr Kenneth Taylor says: ‘Our dedicated teachers and staff, who balance musical training, academic study and pastoral care, our supportive parents and community, and above all our pupils whose discipline, passion and sheer hard work, have all made this achievement possible. They all deserve enormous credit.’
