Advanced Programme (Age 16 Plus)
Our Advanced Programme offers specialist music opportunities to instrumentalists, singers and composers from other schools who intend to apply for a music course at university, conservatoire or music college and want to gain further qualifications or training.
The programme is suitable for young people age 16 to 19.
Due to the timing of applications for conservatoires, music colleges and universities and the degree of intensive preparation required in order to successfully apply to study music, applicants should apply to St Mary's Music School for a minimum of two years.
The programme is particularly suitable for:
- Scottish pupils who have already completed their Highers
- Pupils from the rest of the UK as a two year post A Level programme
- International pupils.
As well as intensive music study, pupils will follow an academic programme which will be designed to meet their requirements. This will be based around the Scottish Advanced Highers which are accepted by higher education institutions around the world, and the Cambridge Pre-U Music qualification.
For international students for whom English is not their first language, English as an Additional Language is also available.
Students may apply as boarders or as day students.
