Professor Jeffrey Sharkey

I am very pleased to write in support of St Mary's Music School's plans for a move to the site of the former Royal High School. I have long known of the excellence and importance of St Mary's since I was Director of Music at the Purcell School in the 1990's. We needed to move premises back then to achieve all of our educational goals for our pupils and St Mary's now finds itself in a similar position. Now that I am Principal of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, I can further attest to the vital role St Mary's Music School plays for talented musicians in our country. This new site would allow them to achieve their vision and we would look forward to a deepening partnership to serve the arts in Scotland.
