Elena Fischer-Dieskau
The German-French pianist Elena Fischer-Dieskau is consistently praised by critics and audiences for her intensely captivating stage presence, and provokes great enthusiasm each time she performs.
Her latest album with Delphian Records featuring major piano works of Schumann and Brahms received unanimous critical acclaim.
Elena has appeared at prestigious festivals and concert halls around the world including Edinburgh International Festival, Perth Concert Hall, Cidade das Artes and Theatro Municipal (Rio de Janeiro), Brahms-Gesellschaft Schleswig-Holstein, Lisztomanias de Chateauroux, Earthquake concert series (Friedrichshafen), Historisches Kaufhaus (Freiburg), Festival International de Colmar 'Vladimir Spivakov', Auditorium du Louvre.
The world renowned pianist Nelson Freire called her 'a great revelation' in the Brazilian Press after attending one of her performances of Rachmaninov's Piano Concerto No 2 with the Orquestra Sinfonica Brasileira.
Ms. Fischer-Dieskau studied in the USA at the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore with legendary pianist and pedagogue Leon Fleisher, where she completed her Graduate Performance Diploma.
Prior to that, she obtained her undergraduate degree while she was studying with Vladimir Krainev at the Hochschule f. Musik, Theater und Medien in Hannover, Germany.
With a French mother, Elena partly grew up in France, where she attended the Conservatoire de Paris as a child. There she met Russian pianist Rena Shereshevskaya, who mentored her for two years before she entered the Hochschule f. Musik, Theater und Medien.
Elena was born in Berlin into a family of musicians and started playing the piano at the age of six.
She is the recipient of the German Stipend "PE Foerderungen", as well as of the "Leon Fleisher Fund".
During her undergraduate studies, Elena Fischer-Dieskau was chosen to play the role of a pianist on the big screen in the French drama film Tout est pardonne (All is Forgiven) by Mia Hansen-Love, performing music by Schumann and Beethoven on screen.
In the media, she has been featured by BBC Radio Scotland in an interview with live performances, as well as by BBC Radio 3 'In Tune' for her latest album release.
She currently lives in Edinburgh and is on the faculty of St Mary's Music School since 2018.
