Mark Wood

Mark began his musical training as a chorister at St Mary’s Episcopal Cathedral, Edinburgh, and attended St Mary’s Music School where he studied piano, violin, viola and composition. After receiving vocal training from Eric von Ibler, Mark accepted a scholarship offer to study Singing at the Royal College of Music, London, first with Neil Mackie and latterly with Ashley Stafford.

A passion for early music led Mark thereafter to the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis in Basel, Switzerland. During his time in Europe, Mark studied with Ulrich Mesthaler and Evelyn Tubb, and was also privileged to work with Anthony Rooley and Joshua Rifkin. As well as this, Mark performed extensively as a jazz and funk singer.

Mark currently resides in Edinburgh where he teaches singing and piano, works as an accompanist, and sings as a Bass Lay-clerk in St Mary's Episcopal Cathedral, Edinburgh.
