The success of Scotland's future depends on its being able to nurture and sustain excellence in all its forms. Having a specialist music school is an important example. Music is perhaps the world's favourite art form at the moment, and we need a constant supply of expert musicians to enable us to keep in touch with our musical heritage as well as to explore new directions. What could be better than a flagship music school standing proudly on a historic city centre site? It would be a wonderful proof that Scotland values music education, a showcase for talent nurtured in Scotland, and an inspiration to musicians and music-lovers visiting the city.
