Helena Buckmayer

As a soloist, recitalist and chamber musician, Helena has performed and toured through Germany, Switzerland, France, Britain, America, Canada and Japan with several concerts being broadcast on television/radio in Germany, Japan and Tennessee. She has played in venues like the Frankfurter Dom, Usher Hall but also in some of Japan's biggest concert halls in Kobe, Hamamatsu and Kawaguchi. Amongst the conductors she worked with as a soloist are Philip Jordan, Roberto Paternostro and Kenneth Kiesler. She played with Augsburger Philharmoniker, Württembergische Philharmonie Reutlingen, Sewannee Symphony Orchestra, Collegium Ulm and more.

She was a prizewinner at various competitions including the biggest German competition Jugend Musiziert where she was also awarded a special prize for her accompaniment and the Yamaha Piano Competition. She has received numerous accolades including awards from the German Magazine Hörzu, the Cultural Institute for the Arts in Baden-Württemberg, the City of Ulm, the Johanneson International School of the Arts in Victoria (Canada), and the Gideon Klein Foundation in Prague.

Helena is priviliged to have been taught by Béla Síki (Seattle) who was Dinu Lipatti's assistant, Fernande Kaeser (Stuttgart), Bernard Roberts (RCM, London) and György Sebök (Bloomington, USA). Currently, she also has teaching commitments at the Junior Conservatoire at RCS, gives regular courses for young musicians, accompanies for the Edinburgh Competition Festival and examines for ABRSM.

St Mary’s Music School is one of the nine specialist Music and Dance Schools the UK (and the only one in Scotland)  funded by the UK Government and providing the finest training in Britain.
