Helena Buckmayer
Acclaimed pianist Helena Buckmayer lives in Scotland where she enjoys a busy career as performing artist, adjudicator and piano teacher.
As a soloist, recitalist and chamber musician Helena has performed and toured through Germany, Switzerland, France, Britain, Japan, United States and Canada with concerts being broadcast on television and radio, playing in venues like Frankfurter Dom, Usher Hall, Queen’s Hall, Kobe Concert Hall, Matsue Concert Hall performing with conductors such as Philip Jordan, Roberto Paternoster, Kenneth Kiesler and orchestras such as Augsburger Philharmoniker, Wurttembergische Philharmonie Reutlingen, Sewannee Symphony Orchestra.
Having received many accolades including from German Magazine Hörzu, the Cultural Institute for the Arts in Baden-Württemberg, the City of Ulm, the Johanneson International School of the Arts in Victoria her work has been supported by the German Consulate in Edinburgh, Enterprise Music Scotland, Gideon Klein Foundation in Prague amongst others.
Her teaching is focused on eradicating unwanted tension, to play in an effortless, pain-free way by combining clearly thought-out physical movements with musical expressions and hence allowing uncompromised artistic involvement. Her pupils have moved on to study at top conservatoires and some have been prizewinners at national and international competitions.
She has been privileged to have studied with Edna Golandsky (NYC), Béla Síki (Seattle) who was Dinu Lipatti's assistant, Fernande Kaeser (Stuttgart) who was also a Lipatti pupil and a protégé by Clara Haskil, Bernard Roberts (RCM, London) and György Sebök (Bloomington, USA).
