Join us for our Instrumental Taster Days, a Be a Chorister Afternoon or our Digital Open Events.

Take a peek behind the scenes and find out what it is like to be a pupil at a specialist music school in these popular events that we hold throughout the year. 

Whether you compose, sing or play any instrument, join us to discover the benefits of being surrounded by other young musicians who love music as much as you do.  Attending a Virtual Open Day, an Instrumental Taster Day or a Be a Chorister Afternoon will present you with the perfect opportunity to discover the world of St Mary's Music School, one of five designated specialist music schools in the UK and the only one in Scotland.
  • Discover how music makes up nearly 50% of every week yet our academic results are amongst the highest in Scotland
  • Hear about the exceptonal level of one-to-one music tuition every pupil receives 
  • Find out about our very small class sizes and see what lessons are really like
  • See why boarding is such good fun for instrumentalists and what an exciting opportunity being a chorister is
  • Explore how our pupils go on to music college, conservatoire, university, not just to study music but other subjects too
  • Join in with a range of fun and informal musical activities 
  • And learn how we can provide financial support to every pupil based in the UK, often up to 100%. If you are not from the UK we may also be able to provide some financial support).

St Mary’s Music School is one of the nine specialist Music and Dance Schools the UK (and the only one in Scotland)  funded by the UK Government and providing the finest training in Britain. It is a co-educational, non-denominational specialist music school, offering a world class standard of music and academic education to musically gifted children aged 9-19 years. It is also the Choir School of St Mary’s Episcopal Cathedral in Edinburgh. It attracts day and boarding pupils from across Scotland, England, Wales, Northern Ireland, Europe and internationally.
