Find Out More
The best way for children and their parents to see whether becoming a chorister is the right choice, is to try it out. We run a regular singing club on a Tuesday afternoon, as well as 'Be a Chorister Afternoon' twice a year. We also encourage any parent to get in touch if you would like to find out more.
Be a Chorister Afternoon
Twice a year we run our 'Be a Chorister Afternoon' which is the perfect way to see behind the scenes and for your son or daughter to have a glimpse of what life is like as a chorister. During the afternoon those children taking part will sing at the cathedral, meet current choristers and come and visit St Mary's Music School. It's a fun and relaxed way for them to sample life as a chorister and for you to ask any questions.
The next 'Be a Chorister Afternoon' is on Friday November 15th 2019. Attendance is entirely free but places must be booked. To secure a place contact Mary Walls, Admissions Secretary on m.walls@st-marys-music-school.co.uk
Cathedral Singing Club - Tuesday afternoons
If your son or daughter loves to sing and you think they might enjoy life as a chorister but would like to try out singing first, then joining our Cathedral Singing Club is a great way to do this. The Club is a free session on a Tuesday afternoon for pupils in Primary 3 or Primary 4 who love to sing.
Further information is available from Duncan Ferguson, Master of the Music at St Mary's Cathedral.
