Following two successful String Academies in partnership with Scottish Chamber Orchestra, we are delighted to announce the launch of SCO Wind Academy which will take place in February and March next year.
Run on a similar basis to the SCO String Academy, the Wind Academy will provide the opportunity for young musicians to experience playing alongside and learning from, the experienced musicians of the Scottish Chamber Orchestra. There will be a short performance for family and friends on the final day.
The course is open to school-aged flute, clarinet, oboe, bassoon and French horn players who have reached at least Grade 6 standard. It is designed to develop technique, playing ability and confidence and to encourage participants to discover the enjoyment of playing with other young musicians.
Pupils from St Mary's Music School will act as Peer Mentors, providing support and a friendly ear for other players.
The Wind Academy has been made possible by the generosity of donors to both St Mary's Music School and Scottish Chamber Orchestra and is offered free of charge.
